" After
years of mocking abstract art, I found myself deeply moved at an exhibit that
featured work by Richard Diebenkorn, and Mark Rothko. In 1999, I began to experiment
with paint and form, leaving the literal image behind. By simply allowing a deeper
sense of conscious design, form, color, and composition follow itself in an organic
manner, I rediscovered a freshness that is not always a part of my more studied
work. There is, for me, a sense of daring and delving into the unknown in these
pieces. On some level, I believe that this should be a component to art. " |
